DESCRIPTION

A Dortmund tank is a clarifier that is approximately 6 to 8 metres in depth and conically shaped. These Sludge Sedimentation Units are mainly used for the final sedimentation of sludge produced by biological and chemical-physical processes. The slope of the tank walls exceeds 50° to assist sludge settlement on the bottom of the hopper, where the settled sludge is drawn off via a hand operated draw off pipe with a valve positioned close to ground level. The sludge is then discharged for further treatment. At the top water level, the effluent flows into a launder over weir plates, for further processing.
